Freetown State Forest

Freetown State Forest

The Ledge

Freetown state forest is a large place to walk, but you have to stick to the trails because many people ride dirt bikes through there so it can get dangerous. If you can avoid the dirt bikes its a great place to take a walk. You can go to the top of the ledge where there is a beautiful view,
or you can go to the bottom and see how big the ledge is and sit by the pond. Either way its a sight to see. Some say this area has a lot of cult activity although i have never seen anything like that. Profile Rock is also apart of the Freetown forest if you read my other post its in the same forest just on a different part of land. so if you can imagine how large of an area it is. This isn't one of my favorites but its worth coming to see it and decide for your self.

Copicut Woods

Copicut woods is a gateway to 13,600 acre south eastern Massachusetts Bio reserve. It has an array of forests, wet lands, water ways and remnants of a vibrant agricultural past.
This is a great place to go for a hike. Take a lunch and lots of water with you if you decide to go for a hike. If you don't feel like hiking there are smaller paths to go and they are all marked with colors and numbers. Make sure you grab the map at the big information board and stay on the trails that are marked till you learn the woods better. You will love the beautiful paths lined with trees. The smell of fresh pine lingers through the air.

Boyden Bird Sanctuary

The Bird Sanctuary is a wildlife refuge in Taunton Massachusetts. It was used a long time ago for watching birds. There is a wooden cabin that was used to stay in for days, weeks, how ever long they had to stay.
It's 52 acres has paths through gardens, bridges, and swamps. if you want to venture further in the wood there is a waterfall. Its far off the main path but its worth it. Iv been coming here scene i was a little girl. So i know all the good spots. Its also a great place to bring the dogs for a walk and have them meet other dogs. You will love all the different scenery.

Profile Rock

Profile Rock also known as the old man of Joshua's Mountain, is a 50 foot high granite rock formation in Freetown Massachusetts. Native Americans believed it to be the image of the Wamponoag Cheif Massasoit.
I love to come here and learn about the history of are lands close to home, but i also love to climb the mountain. when i was a kid we use to see how many ways we could climb up it. Some were hard, others easier, and some just impossible. When you reach the top its a breath taking view, especially in the fall and when the sunsets. You can see forever, over thousands of tree tops.
This is my daughter and my dog at the top, kids love it. Also there are many many paths to explore. its a great place to come walking and then before you leave climb the mountain and watch the sunset.

Dighton Rock State Park

Dighton Rock

Dighton Rock state park is located in Berkley Massachusetts. It's 85 acres, is full of walking or biking trails. It has picnicking areas right next to the Taunton river and the museum. The museum has the rock in it that was found by early settlers in the Taunton river. I wont tell you everything, I will let you come and find out for yourself. It's very interesting. I love this park not just because its close to home but it is a great place to bring the kids and dogs for walk. If it rained the night before and the ground is still wet this is a great place to go. It has a long paved road that leads from the main street to the park. Most of the time the gates are closed so you can park and walk to the river without getting all muddy. But if its nice, there is a bunch of paths waiting to be explored. If you never been there, definitely try it out.

You will love the sunsets at Dighton Rock park.
